Zastron is perhaps the best known of the three villages in
this area. At the foot of the Aasvoëlberg with the famous Eye of Zastron, a
nine meter wide hole through a sandstone rock. Very nice examples of bushman
art can be found on the various farms in the area.
Zastron is very close to Lesotho (say "Lesutu") and a great place to
start exploring. It is quite busy when compared to some of the other small
towns, with many of the local population going about their business.
Some people have taking it upon themselves to restart the tourist information about Zastron, since the person who used to do it moved away. The temporaray information office is now at the printers office, but plans exist to set it up somewhere else more permanent.
